Pharmacy Programs
Included in most health insurance plans
Many health insurance providers offer members pharmacy programs with their health plans.
Pharmacy programs help members control rising prescription drug costs through the providers networks of participating pharmacies.
For the most part when members select a participating pharmacy, they pay the applicable pharmacy deductible, coinsurance or copayment amount for each prescription drug and avoid having to file claims. If they visit a non-participating pharmacy, they pay the full cost for the prescription and then submit a claim for reimbursement.
It is important to remember that not ALL health insurance policies provide pharmacy coverage, and not all pharmacy coverage specifics are the same.
Be sure to ask your agent about pharmacy coverage specifics before purchasing any private health insurance policy.
